The Celestron Advanced VX 8 EdgeHD is a complete astroimaging platform for deep sky observation and image capture that combines the new Advanced VX computerised mount with Celestron’s best optics, the EdgeHD optical system. The telescope features an 8″” Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube with 2032mm focal length, 40mm eyepiece, an adjustable stainless steel tripod and NexStar hand controller. The EdgeHD optical technology is designed to produce aberration-free images across a wide visual and photographic field of view. The VX mount with improved motor was specifically designed for optimum power and tracking performance for smaller telescopes. Thanks to the autoguider support and All-Star Polar Alignment you can choose any star listed in the NexStar hand control (included) to assist in accurately aligning your telescope’s mount with the North Celestial Pole.

Maplin Telescopes

Maplin our favourite high street gadget and electronics retailer have just started to sell telescopes.

Maplin currently have a range of Danubia and Celestron reflector and refracting telescopes. The new range starts from £49 up to over £500 for the Danubia 200mm on an EQ5 mount.

They even have a nice looking brass pocket telescope as well for just over £50.

John Lewis Telescopes

Whilst I was searching lately for a new Skywatcher telescope I was amazed to see that John Lewis appeared in the lists on Google. So I had to have a look, John Lewis now sell telescopes. They don’t sell too many, about 7 in total. Maybe telescopes are becoming mainstream, maybe it’s the Brian Cox effect?
